TEMPE, ARIZ. — Tooling Molds West Inc., a manufacturer of injection and die cast molds in Tempe, recently expanded its operations.The company acquired the lease on 4,000 square feet of space, bringing its total square footage to 8 ,000, according to President Fred Drawert.Additionally, TMW purchased two computer numerically controlled horizontal machining centers, a second electric discharge machine, a wire EDM, a sixth surface grinder, and a 150-ton injecti on molding press that it will use to sample and debug molds.Drawert started the company eight years ago at a time when the economy was starting to take a nose-dive. ``Providing high-quality molds on time at a fair price is really w hat customers want, and if you can do that you'll grow,'' he said. Using AutoCAD and Surf-Cam software, Drawert said he recently completed a fully three-dimensional, two-cavity mold in four and a half weeks, from ``part file to pla stic part.''TMW employs 15, and builds molds primarily for custom molders in the Southwestern region that serve the automotive, telecommunications and business equipment industries.
