GLASS REINFORCEMENT HELPS KEEP PP WHITE

Comments Email Print

PPG Industries Inc.'s new fiberglass reinforcement for polypropylene helps compounds maintain strength and brilliant whiteness, the Pittsburgh firm claims.

MaxiChop 3298 includes new sizing chemistry that allows white pigment to maintain its brightness during processing. This precludes high pigment loadings, which cause loss of strength properties. PPG developed the fiber for composite washing machine tubs and baskets and has extended its use to auto applications. It claims the fiber works well in chemically coupled and uncoupled PP compounds.
