BURLINGTON, N.J.—Rimtec Corp. has dedicated a new, $6.5 million compounding line to producing custom-colored flexible PVC.
With an annual capacity of 16 million pounds, the line is designed to produce small quantities of high-quality PVC compounds aimed at the automobile, specialty wire and cable, and other specialty flexible markets, the company said. It began commercial production in January.
At its Burlington plant, Rimtec has total compounding capacity of 100 million pounds per year. Last year, rigid PVC for such products as bottles and extruded profiles made up half of the company's sales, and flexible PVC compounds accounted for the rest. Sales were undisclosed.
Rimtec is a joint venture of Riken Vinyl Industry Co. Ltd., a large Japanese compounder of PVC, and Mitsubishi Corp., a Tokyo-based general commodities trading company.
