CINCINNATI — Quantum Chemical Corp. announced Feb. 5 it began commercial production of linear low density polyethylene resins at its new facility in La Porte, Texas.

The plant uses gas-phase, Unipol production technology, and has a capacity of 480 million pounds per year. With LLDPE facilities at La Porte and Morris, Ill., Quantum now can manufacture 1.13 billion pounds of LLDPE a year.

Cincinnati-based Quantum previously made LLDPE at its Port Arthur, Texas, facility, but converted that unit to high density PE last year.
