MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO — Thermoformer Amhil Enterprises Ltd. of Mississauga is spending $2 million to add two lines and gradually move to a new plant.

The company plans to relocate manufacturing to a 65,000-square-foot building, also in Mississauga, at the end of March and will install the new machines in April. Amhil's peak business season is between April and August, and it needed additional thermoforming capacity.

The expansion will require 30-40 new workers.

Amhil currently owns four buildings with a total of about 100,000 square feet of space, but 16-foot ceilings at the site are too low to accommodate some larger equipment. The firm will keep its 40,000-square-foot warehouse.

The 22-year-old firm currently has six lines and 200 employees at two plants, in Mississauga and Dickson, Tenn. It serves the plastic cup and lid industry and reported thermoforming sales of $19.7 million for the fiscal year ended July 31.
