Bayer Corp. is marketing a harder polyurethane blown film it claims offers 95 percent light transmittance for greenhouse applications.

Dureflex 7018 is 6 mils thick. It has better light transmission than polyethylene film and lasts longer, according to the Pittsburgh-based firm. The product also costs about 50 percent less than glass.

Bayer sources the film from Deerfield Urethane Inc. of South Deerfield, Mass.
