ENGEL OPENS BRANCHES IN SINGAPORE, INDIA

SINGAPORE — Though long active in China and Hong Kong, Austrian injection molding machine manufacturer Engel Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH stepped up its commitment to Asia by opening branch offices last month in Singapore and India.

The new Singapore office has assumed full responsibility from its former representative, Cosa Liebermann (S) Pte. Ltd., for sales, service and spare parts for Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, according to Georg Tinschert, Engel managing director.

The office, which offers a showroom that is able to exhibit presses with clamping forces as great as 120 tons, also will be used for customer training and Engel seminars, Tinschert said in a Jan. 23 interview at his company's Aseanplas booth in Singapore.

Engel's regional office in Hong Kong, which opened in 1986, will continue to operate, maintaining responsibility for operations in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea and the Philippines.

Christian Naderer heads the Singapore office as general manager, Engel Machinery HK Ltd., Singapore Branch. He reports to Robert Bodingbauer, the managing director of Engel Machinery HK Ltd. in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, Engel also recently opened a branch office in Mumbai, India, near Bombay.

Engel Machinery India Pvt. Ltd. appointed Heinz Vrablitz its managing director, has hired a sales engineer and is building a team of salespeople now, according to an Engel official.
