Five years ago this week in Plastics News:

Spartech Corp. reverted to its core sheet and compounding businesses by selling its New York polyethylene film operation to an undisclosed investor group.

Vinyl profile extruder Veka Inc. began negotiating for land in Reno, Nev., where it later built its second U.S. plant in 1994.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. started a $63.5 million expansion of its PET resin plant in Point Pleasant, W.Va., while it negotiated to sell its PET business. (In April 1992 Goodyear agreed to sell the business to Shell Chemical Co.)
