Five years ago this week in Plastics News:

Pulsar Plastics Inc. opened a Sardis, Miss., custom injection molding plant, its second. (In 1996, Pulsar's owner closed the facility after two men were acquitted in the death of his son, the Sardis plant manager.)

Workers at GE Plastics' Washington, W.Va., plant rejected unionization by United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America. (The workers rejected a second unionization drive in 1995.)

American Mirrex Corp. expanded in vinyl calendering by purchasing Occidental Chemical Corp.'s plant in Salisbury, Md. (Vinyl Plastics Inc. recently agreed to buy American Mirrex.)
