WELLESLEY, MASS. — A venture capital firm that has made plastics-related investments has beefed up its industry experience through an investment alliance with a longtime plastics executive.

Wellesley-based Ampersand Ventures announced April 9 it has formed an alliance with Roger E. Brooks, former president and chief executive officer of Dynisco Inc., a Sharon, Mass.-based auxiliary equipment manufacturer.

Ampersand and Brooks will target small and medium-sized companies seeking capital for expansion, or where owners are seeking partial or total liquidity.

According to Ampersand, the alliance strengthens the firm's operating and industry expertise. Ampersand formed in 1987 as a spinoff from New York investment banking firm PaineWebber. It focuses exclusively on investments in the specialty materials and chemicals industry, including plastics.

Ampersand's plastics industry investments include Moldflow International Pty. Ltd. of Boston.

Brooks was Dynisco's president and CEO from 1984-1996.
