Five years ago this week in Plastics News:
Aeroquip Corp. announced it planned to close its Franklin, Tenn., injection molding plant. (Aeroquip since has restructured and consolidated. It recently closed its Mooresville, N.C., plant and is offering seven other facilities for sale.)
Walbro Corp. said it would enter plastic auto gas tank blow molding by building a plant in the Midwest. (Last year the company made 2 million tanks at several plants around the world and predicts it will make 6.5 million by 2000.)
Plastics firms escaped the worst of riots in Los Angeles sparked by acquittal of police officers charged in the beating of Rodney King.
