CONSTAR QUIET ON NAPCOR EXIT

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — North America's largest blow molder, Constar International Inc., has pulled out of the National Association for Plastic Container Recovery.

Constar, the Atlanta unit of Philadelphia-based Crown Cork & Seal Co. Inc., withdrew at the end of 1996, said NAPCOR President Luke Schmidt.

``It was a decision that they made,'' he said. ``They, at the time, were quite satisfied [with NAPCOR]. There were other dynamics at work.''

Schmidt would not elaborate, referring calls to the company. A Conair spokeswoman referred calls to NAPCOR in Charlotte.

No other firms have left the group, which has added several members recently. Schmidt would not discuss the financial impact of Constar's decision.
