WILMINGTON, DEL. — DuPont Engineering Polymers is resuming normal production of Zytel and Minlon nylon, after recovering from a fire at its hexamethylenediamine plant in Orange, Texas.

A May 7 fire seriously reduced production of HMD, a key intermediate in Zytel and Minlon production. No one was injured in the fire, which officials said caused no environmental damage.

The Wilmington firm experienced a 45 percent reduction in the availability of uncompounded products, and a 30 percent reduction in compounded products.

The Orange plant is the largest of six HMD plants DuPont operates worldwide.
