AUXILIARY MARKET HAS NEW PLAYER

GENEVA, ILL. — The auxiliary machinery sector has a new player — Auxiliary Plastic Equipment Inc., or APE. APE employs seven people, according to its president, Marshall Harmon, who has 20 years of experience in the plastics equipment industry. The machinery shop is leasing 9,000 feet of space in Geneva.

Granulators are APE's first product, but Harmon said the firm plans to expand.

``APE, in the next two years, will become a full-line manufacturer of auxiliary equipment offering low-priced, high-quality equipment,'' he said.

He added that he is studying other products, including hopper dryers, vacuum loaders and mold chillers.

In March, APE began making a CAS series of beside-the-press granulators, ranging in size from 5-15 horsepower. Price ranges from $6,000-$12,000.

Next, the company will build larger, central granulators from 20-75 HP.

APE products are sold nationally through independent sales representatives.
