2010 is off to a rolling start, as Plastics News senior reporter Frank Esposito shares in this new year edition of Material Insights. Thailand-based Indorama Ventures Public Co. Ltd. will challenge a recent court case filed by Eastman Chemical Co. against Indorama subsidiaries that's related to a technology licensing agreement. Celanese Corp. is buying the long-fiber reinforced thermoplastics (LFT) business of FACT GmbH (Future Advanced Composites Technology) of Kaiserslautern, Germany. And Novomer Inc. will use an $800,000 state grant and facilities provided by Eastman Kodak Co. to commercialize plastics made from renewable carbon dioxide feedstocks.
