For bag solution, just look in mirror

I disagree with you about bag bans/fees [“Do you need a bag? Yeah, make it plastic,” Viewpoint, Feb. 8, Page 6].

While many individuals care about the environment and are willing to bring their own reusable bags, it appears that far more prefer the perceived convenience of plastic bags and the abdication of personal responsibility that those bags represent.

Even here in the San Francisco Bay Area, where the population is supposedly enlightened about environmental issues, plastic bags blow in the streets.

Look, the ocean and the marine life affected by plastic waste can’t speak for themselves. It’s up to those of us who care to see to it that our environment is protected for future generations.
