JCI turns auto speakers into trim

Among items of interest at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit is an innovative sound system from Johnson Controls Inc. It replaces bulky audio speaker cones with small exciters, tuned with compression molded polypropylene and a natural fiber filler, for rich sound coming from auto pillar teim and headliners.
