Wittmann Battenfeld wants your used robots

December 21, 2011

You can trade in your old car. Now you can trade in your used robot, to Wittmann Battenfeld Inc.

The company in Torrington, Conn., issued a news release Dec. 16 announcing the “Retire Your Robot” program. It runs through April 1, 2012 — the first day of NPE 2012 in Orlando.

During that time, processors can trade in any brand of used robot and get rebates of up to $8,000 on the purchase of an all-new Wittmann robot. The company will accept up to five old robots in trade from one molder.

“We know the industry is saturated with hundreds, if not thousands, of old robots,” said Tom Schaffner, national sales manager for robotics. “These units are much slower than today’s models, are hard to maintain and repair, and are actually costing molders due to their inefficiency and downtime.”

New robots and automation system offer several advanced features, including faster part removal, part stacking, part quality control, real-time web service support and connectivity with tablets and smart phones for remote monitoring and configuration.
