Liquid silicone firm Elmet opens N. American HQ

LANSING, MICH.(Jan. 19, 12 p.m. ET) — Austrian liquid silicone rubber molding technology supplier Elmet Elastomere Produktions – und Dienstiestungs GmbH opened a 6,000-square-foot North American headquarters in Lansing on Jan. 1.

The location of Elmet North America Inc. is about halfway between Wacker Silicones in Adrian, Mich., and Dow Corning Silicones in Midland, Mich., Elmet officials said.

Elmet makes LSR molds, cold-runner systems, LSR dosing systems, auxiliary equipment and turnkey molding cells.

Kurt Manigatter, Elmet’s managing director, said Elmet North Ameria will house spare parts, service and sales operations. Elmet North America has future plans to offer prototyping and basic repair and refurbishing services. Customers can attend training courses at the headquarters.

Elmet North America will exhibit at the Medical Design & Manufacturing West show in Anaheim, Calif., Feb. 14-16.

Based in Oftering, Austria, Elmet Elastomere employs 110.
