BRANFORD, CONN. (Feb. 2, 2:20 p.m. ET) — Canusa Hershman Recycling Co. has acquired a building, equipment and other assets of First State Plastics Inc. in New Castle, Del.

Canusa Hershman recently purchased a 98,000-square-foot facility that houses post-industrial plastic grinding operations, a warehouse and office space, as well as processing equipment and trucks.

The Branford, Conn.-based company will use its new acquisitions to expand its plastics division in the mid-Atlantic region, according to a Jan. 30 news release.

Details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Canusa Hershman did not return calls seeking comment.

Canusa Hershman currently operates a processing plant in St. Albans, Vt., and said it markets more than 2.5 million tons of recyclables annually, including more than 10 million pounds of post-industrial plastic.

The company ranked No. 68 in Plastics News’ latest survey of North American plastics recyclers and brokers.
