WASHINGTON (Feb. 7, 3:30 p.m. ET) — SPI’s Bioplastics Council is releasing two industry guides in an effort to support bioplastics education and explore the various subjects that impact the plastics industry. The free guides are titled “Understanding Biobased Carbon Content” and “Life Cycle Analysis Primer – What, Why and How.”

The Washington-based council is releasing the guides due to frequent requests for information on the topics of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and biobased carbon content.

The LCA primer provides a broad understanding of the topic for the reader and is not specific to bioplastics, so it is applicable to anyone seeking explanatory comments and practical advice regarding LCA.

Readers can also expand their knowledge of biobased carbon content, ASTM D6866 and alternative approaches to reporting biobased carbon content through the publications, which are available on SPI’s website.

SPI’s Bioplastics Council was created in 2008 to promote the development and growth of the bioplastics industry.
