Hybrid silicone spheres are being touted for cosmetics where they provide soft focus, smoothness and other physical properties to anti-aging products.

Shin-Etsu Silicones of America Inc. has debuted its KSP products to the cosmetics industry in a recent technical conference in New York. The products come in the form of powder comprised of numerous small-diameter spheres that have a rubber core and silicone resin shell.

“The KSP hybrid spherical silicone powder delivers a unique combination of the softness of rubber with the smoothness and spreadability of (silicone) resin to maximize both transmittance and haze for the best look,” stated Shin-Etsu Silicones North America marketing manager Eric Bishop in a news release.

KSP works because the ingredients are carefully chosen to provide property goals. Key properties include swell, face oil absorption, soft focus, degree of matte and smoothing lines. Skin lotions, creams treatment serums, powder foundations and blushes are among targeted applications, claims the Akron, Ohio, company.
