Beaumont Technologies Inc. of Erie, Pa., will show two new products at the upcoming NPE 2012 in Orlando:
• The Thermo-flo in-mold rheometer is a next-generation method for characterizing the injection moldability of a polymer melt. Therma-flo duplicates both the hydrodynamic and thermodynamic conditions of the molding process by injecting a melt through a cooled mold channel, using an injection press. Polymer melt is injected through both circular and slit-flow channels that have a variety of cross-sectional sizes, and the temperature of each channel is controlled to a designed condition, where flow rates, melt and channel temperatures replicate those found in a mold during normal injection molding processes.
Nexeo Solutions LLC is using Thermo-flo for its new Scientific Material Selection service.
• A new ISO 294/ASTM integrated molding cell for making test specimens. The environmentally controlled cell uses Beaumont’s modular test mold, that can be changed quickly.
• The fourth-generation 5Step software, for mold filling and part diagnostics, with additional functions.
The company also announced Autodesk Inc. recently recruited Beaumont Technologies to be an official Moldflow training consultant. And Beaumont will hold additional training sessions at its Erie headquarters. The seminars will focus on learning fundamental principles of plastic flow, rheology, troubleshooting and the design of parts and runner systems.
