CHIPPEWA FALLS, WIS. (March 9, 12:10 p.m. ET) — Extrusion Dies Industries LLC, which makes flat dies and extrusion coating dies, has purchased Premier Dies Corp., a maker of slot coating dies and flat dies.

The deal, for undisclosed terms, was announced March 8. Both companies are in Chippewa Falls.

Premier Dies was founded in 2001 by President Steve Jonjak and other top company officials, after they left another die-maker, Production Components Valley Die Inc. of Eau Claire, Wis. Cloeren Co. had acquired Production Components in 1997.

Premier Dies makes flat dies for cast film and sheet, slot dies for extrusion coating, dies for blown film and coextrusion feedblocks and dies for compounding and pelletizing.

EDI was purchased by private equity firm Bertram Capital Management LLC at the end of 2010.

Jonjak said the new ownership will help Premier Dies grow faster. “Our shared commitment to technology development coupled with EDI’s resources and deep experience working with global industrial companies, will enable Premier to grow our business,” he said in a news release.

EDI’s CEO, Gary Edwards, said the combination of EDI’s global distribution and Premier’s technology will help the company gain new business in existing and emerging markets.

“Putting these two organizations together immediately provides our customers with a broader product portfolio and access to an expanded global sales and service network,” Edwards said in the release.

Premier Dies has a 40,000-square-foot plant.

Officials of both companies could not be immediately reached for this story. EDI and Premier Dies are both exhibiting at NPE2012 — EDI in booth 6663, and Premier in booth 118.
