New equipment purchases at resin distributor Chase Plastic Services are featured in this week's Material Insights video. Clarkston, Mich.-based Chase recently installed two new bulk packaging lines and a new computerized blender at its warehouse in South Bend, Ind. The warehouse stocks more than 6,400 grades of specialty, engineering and commodity resins. Deals by Indorama Ventures and United Resource Recovery Corp. also are featured in the video. Indorama purchased the PET resin assets of PT Polypet Karyapersada in Cilegon, Indonesia. The site has more than 200 milion pounds of annual PET capacity. Spartanburg, S.C.-based URRC bought membership interests in International Recycling Group, a new recycler that plans to open a major recycling plant in the Midwest U.S. in 2013. The video wraps up with news of a new R&D center for polyurethane chemicals maker COIM in Offanengo, Italy. The 32,000 square-foot center will be used to research PU specialties including hot-cast elastomers and heat-seal coatings.
