Charles Ross & Son Co. offer planetary mixers with new sealed and purged gearbox assemblies, for sensitive applications that require tight protection against contamination.
Two rectangular blades rotate on their own axes, while they orbit the mix vessel on a common axis. The company in Hauppauge, N.J., said this mixing action is ideal for moving viscous fluids or wet granulations.
The stainless steel gearbox housing has a sloped cover, to prevent contamination and the pooling of condensed liquids. Solvent vapors and airborne particles are prevented from entering the gearbox. A cable-roofed bonnet avoids dust or water collection.
