ORLANDO, FLA. (April 4, 7 p.m. ET) — EMS-Grivory is exhibiting a new range of nylons for media conveying at the NPE2012 show in Orlando.
The company has expanded its Grilamid L nylon 12 range and is now producing 2D Nylon 612, 2S Nylon 610 and 1S Nylon 1010 for applications such as tubing and connectors, sales manager Darryl Goodwin said at the show.
“Our new Grilamid products are resistant to fuel and oil, as well as chemicals, which is very important in automotive applications,” he said. “They are also resistant to zinc chloride, which is found in road salts.”
Grilamid L nylons are designed to replace rubber in media conveying systems.
“Metal, glass and rubber replacement is very important for us as it provides benefits such as weight savings and design freedom,” said Goodwin. “You can also eliminate parts of the manufacturing process when you use polymers, for example painting of the finished part.”
At NPE EMS-Grivory is also exhibiting its Grivory GV and Grilamid TR nylons.
Grivory GV is designed to replace zinc and aluminum in die cast components and provides high stiffness, as well as good dimensional stability, creep behavior and vibration damping capability. Grilamid TR is a range of transparent nylons for glass replacement in technical applications. Its properties include optical clarity and good impact strength and chemical resistance, says the company.
The nylons on show are all available in the United States, Europe and Asia.
“We make the base polymers and do the compounding so can control the whole process, including the feedstock,” said Goodwin. “We can custom the tailor compounds for various qualities, for example stiffness.”
EMS-Grivory is part of the polymers business of EMS Group, based in Donat/Ems, Switzerland. EMS-Grivory America is based in Sumter, S.C.
