ORLANDO, FLA. (April 4, 7 p.m. ET) — Mold Hotrunner Solutions (Booth 2893) claims injection molders can save more than 50 percent on their energy bills by using its new valve gate Rheo-Pro iVG hot runner stack mold system.
Georgetown, Ontario-based MHS said at NPE that the new kit has a 54 percent smaller carbon footprint that its single-face counterpart.
The system can also run in smaller injection molding machines with less clamping force, which MHS said further cut the overall amount of energy used in the production cell.
A standard Rheo-Pro IVG 48+48 stack mould running in a 200 ton machine can produce 96 lightweight bottle closures every three seconds – or nearly 3 million parts per day – making it 30 percent more cost efficient than a conventional 96 cavity single-face hot runner system.
Evan Goodwin, MHS’ engineering manager, said the new system would be particularly useful in the caps and closures markets where companies were looking to re-tool in order to create thinner walled products.
MHS claims their Rheo-Pro iVG hot runners are “superior to traditional valve gate systems because they are extremely compact and durable.
“In a back-to-back stack mold configuration they reduce melt temperature, unlocking new efficiencies that are not possible with conventional hot-tip gates.”
Harold Schmidt, MHS’ president, said internal valve gate hot runner technology was “a game changer.”
“We built the IVG so our customers can outperform their competition. It’s as simple as that,” he added.
