ORLANDO, FLA. (April 4, 6:40 p.m. ET) — Matsui America Inc. (Booth 2175) is accepting orders for its automatic energy-saving MJ5-i portable drying and loading system as a successor to its MJ3 system in the U.S. market since 2004.

“The system monitors air temperatures on both circuits and can throttle back blowers as needed,” said Gregory Lewis, general manager of Matsui America in Hanover Park, Ill. The circuits relate to the process air and air regeneration functions.

With a MJ5-i, an operator can input a temperature to dry a material and expect “up to 75 percent energy savings versus the previous model,” he said. The “i” stands for intelligent drying solution.

Matsui America anticipates stocking MJ5-i units in Illinois beginning in July.

Also on display at NPE2012 are two cross-licensed molding processes being introduced to the North American market after being available in Asia since 2009 and being used on multiple product lines including large television cabinets.

Eliminating surface blemishes, weld lines or sink marks, the proprietary processes are called Rapid Heat Cycle Molding, or RHCM, from an operation of Ono Sangyo Co. Ltd. in Japan’s Tochigi prefecture and Heat and Cool from Pittsfield, Mass.-based Sabic Innovative Plastics, formerly General Electric Co’s engineering plastics division.

Compressed steam is driven through multiple water pipes near the cavity surface during the injection cycle. Then cooling water is circulated during the solidification phase.

In February, Matsui America opened an office in the Jardim Paulista district of São Paulo, Brazil.
