Incoe refines sequential valve gating for large parts

ORLANDO, FLA. (April 6, 11 a.m. ET) — Sequential valve gating for injection molding large parts is not new, but Incoe Corp. has refined the system with SoftGate, a method of controlling the material flow to reduce flaws in production.

SoftGate can monitor and control the gate pin actuation, which maintains a consistent pressure in the part, said Rick Hagfors, business manager automotive. Consistent pressure reduces the potential for flow hesitation lines and part inconsistency in large parts, which means less scrap in production.

The SoftGate system attaches to the mold and moves with the mold to a different press when needed.

Incoe also introduced improvements for stack mold technology, with a new Edge Gate nozzle design to reduce leakage in the mold, which reduces maintenance and simplifies manufacturing integration.
