ORLANDO, FLA. (April 16, 1:25 p.m. ET) — France’s Simpoe SAS exhibited the new SolidWorks plastics simulation software product line, which it was selling in collaboration with Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp., at NPE2012.

“The software simulates the injection molding process so users can look at aspects such as warpage or cooling,” said Simpoe COO Thierry Leroy, who added that the software can save injection molders 25-30 percent in manufacturing costs.

The Simpoe software comes in four different packages – Xplorer, ENG Package, MFG Packaging and TOOL Package – and simulates a variety of parts, with or without inserts. It includes tools for looking at aspects such as gate location optimization, runner balancing and weld lines.

Simpoe recently signed a sales and marketing distribution agreement with Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks, meaning SolidWorks users don’t have to change their interface to make use of the new technology, Leroy said. It comes in several languages and is targeted at both mold and product designers.

“We are the only company to offer plastics simulation technology of this kind,” he added.

Simpoe is based in Torcy, France, and has a staff of 20. Some 85 percent of its business is in exports, Leroy said.
