Atlanta-based Siemens Industry Inc. at NPE2012 introduced its TCP3000 temperature controller for extruders.

The pre-figured solution allows equipment makers to save time and money when equipping their machines, fives users a high degree of flexibility, scalability and performance, and offers simple, clear operator screens for temperature zone monitoring and control.

Siemens also showed the new Sinamics servo pump for hydraulic injection molding machines, which the company claims can reduce energy costs by up to 50 percent.

Other advantages include quieter operation than a variable capacity pump or control valve, smaller oil tank volume and reduced dependency on oil temperature.

Siemens also announced that its Sinamics S120 drive system has been expanded to include connectivity through Profinet, Ethernet TCP/IP and EtherNet/IP.

“In many instances, plant managers have the requirement for a single-plant network, particularly with large automotive, packaging, plastics, metals, food and beverage as well as material handling companies,” said Craig Nelson, product manager for Sinamics S drives. “Our Sinamics drives platform provides communications without limits to a specific network type.”

Simamics S120 drives support, as standard, Profibus DP and Profinet, seamlessly linking all components involved in automation, including the operator interface.
