CLEVELAND (May 10, 1:20 p.m. ET) — Bruce Muller, a Society of Plastics Engineers activist who started a colorant manufacturing company focused on rotational molding, received the Past President’s Award at the SPE Rotational Molding Division’s TopCon 2012 on May 7.

Muller was one of the division’s founding members. He how runs Plastics Consulting Inc. in Palm City, Fla.

He joined SPE in 1969, and has served on numerous committees. He helped form the Ohio Firelands Section of SPE. He served as national councilor for a total of 13 years for various SPE divisions.

Muller started Accurate Color in Lodi, Ohio, in 1978. The company developed compounds that allow dry blending of colors into rotomolded parts without a significant loss of physical properties. He invented a method for rotomolding parts using metal flake and the speckled granite effect.

Muller later sold Accurate Color to Teknor Apex Co., but remained active in the rotomolding industry.

He was one of the industry leaders who helped create the color matching program at Terra Community College in Fremont, Ohio.

Muller has been very active in trade groups. He was elected to the Association of Rotational Molders’   board of directors, and served on several committees. He received ARM’s Charles D. Frederick Distinguished Service Award in 2001. In 2007, he joined the Rotational Molding Hall of Fame.

Hank White, chairman of the SPE Rotomolding Division, presented Muller with the Past President’s Award at a dinner during TopCon.

White picked up his own award in Cleveland—for serving an unprecedented third term as division chairman. White is director of the Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Plastics Manufacturing Center in Williamsport, Pa.
