ORLANDO, FLA. (May 17, 1:30 p.m. ET) — Syscon-PlantStar introduced a kanban scheduling module during NPE2012, which can use either physical cards, or an electronic method, to trigger action.

The South Bend, Ind.-based company also now offers remote hosting of PlantStar systems using “cloud” computing.

In another NPE announcement, Syscon-PlantStar has relaunched its entry-level production monitoring system, QuickShot, with some improvements. The price: $9,995.

“We’ve been able to reduce the cost of Quickshot thanks to newer advancements in hardware and software technology,” said President and CEO Townsend Thomas. “We’re passing those savings on the smaller manufacturers that only want a basic production monitoring system.”

Syscon-PlantStar customers get some more options. QuickShot already has material usage and forecasting tools built in. Now the customer has the option top use modules for purchasing, bill of materials and pick lists. The pick list flags out-of-stock levels and generates the purchase order. New work orders are automatically scheduled into the manufacturing execution system (MES) schedule board on the shop floor.
