ExxonMobil Corp.'s review of adding adding almost three billion pounds of polyethylene capacity in Texas is featured in this week's Material Insight's video. Houston-based ExxonMobil -- one of the world's largest oil and gas producers -- has filed applications that would allow for construction of a new ethane cracker as well as of two major new PE lines. The review process is expected to last about a year. If the project is approved, production should start sometime in 2016. Company officials said new natural gas discoveries are behind the proposed move. Invista's launch of new technology for making adiponitrile feedstock also is featured in this week's video. Adiponitrile is a key feedstock used to make nylon 6/6 resin. The new process can improve product yields, reduce energy consumption and lower carbon dioxide emissions. The video wraps up with a look at aggressive financial targets set by compounding leader PolyOne. By 2015, the Avon Lake, Ohio-based firm expects to have annual sales of $5 billion and adjuster eanings per-share of $2.50. Those targets are more than 70 percent higher than PolyOne's 2011 sales total and more than double its 2011 adjusted EPS level.
