LENEXA, KAN. (Sept. 5, 10 a.m. ET) – Thermoplastic stock shape manufacturer ZL Engineering Plastics Inc. has started up production at its Lenexa plant, the company’s first in North America.

The 10,000-square-foot plant cost $3.5 million, according to a previous report. Previously the company supplied shapes to North American customers that were manufactured in Kaprun, Austria, by parent company Zell-Metall GmbH Engineering Plastics.

“We’re excited about establishing this new extrusion facility because it enables us to meet increasing customer demand while also reducing lead times in North America,” said Eric Giesen, sales and marketing director for ZL Engineering Plastics, in a news release.

The company makes sheet, rod, and tube made of engineering thermoplastics including nylon, acetal, PET, polyetherimide and polyetheretherketone.
