AKRON, OHIO (Sept. 14, 3:40 p.m. ET) — U.S. Senators Scott Brown and Richard Blumenthal recently made separate visits to plastics machinery firms.

Brown (R-Mass.) visited the Worcester, Mass., headquarters of machinery supplier Absolute Machinery Corp., Absolute Haitian Corp., Absolute Green Energy Corp. on Sept. 6 in Worcester.

Brown toured the company’s two manufacturing and warehouse facilities to speak to employees, invited guests and representatives of several area small businesses.

Co-owner Nate Smith said the visit came together “very quickly,” as the senator’s staff first contacted the company two days before. “They were looking for a success story and we were proud to be chosen from over 500 companies in the area as the site for Sen. Brown’s visit to Central Massachusetts. Although it was short notice, more than 30 companies, many of whom are our suppliers and vendors, had the chance to hear from Sen. Brown.”

Brown was accompanied by Konstantina Lukes, Worcester city councilor and former Democratic mayor, who supports the Republican’s reelection.

Brown and Lukes both emphasized bipartisan action to support manufacturing and job growth in the region.

The event took place in Absolute’s technical center, where a Haitian Mars 1200 injection press, imported from China, was molding parts.

In Connecticut, Senator Blumenthal (D-Conn.) visited Wittmann Battenfeld Inc.’s Torrington-based operations on Aug. 17. During the tour, Blumenthal received a detailed overview of Wittmann Battenfeld’s operations and was briefed on the firm’s consistent job growth as a Connecticut manufacturer, according to a news release from the company.

During the visit, Blumenthal collaborated with Wittmann Battenfeld on potential ways in which his office could further assist in the firm’s plans, the release said. Those plans including plant expansion, a new CRM system, a VOIP phone system, and improvement of their national service network.
