LOWELL, IND. (Sept. 19, 3:20 p.m. ET) — A Newell Rubbermaid Inc. subsidiary that makes window and door hardware plans to close a plastics plant in Lowell.

Ashland Products Inc. told the Indiana Department of Workforce Development that it will close the facility March 31. Ashland said in a Sept. 14 notice that 66 employees will be affected by the closure.

The company makes more than 4,000 window and door hardware components, such as latches, hinges and locks, out of metals and plastics. Its other plants are in Hunterville, N.C.; Toronto; and Monterrey, Mexico.

Ashland said its plastics processes include injection molding and insert molding.

The company issued the closure notice to comply with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.

Newell Rubbermaid is based in Alpharetta, Ga.
