WARREN, MICH. (Sept. 25, 4:50 p.m. ET) — North American auto supplier SRG Global Inc. and its Japanese alliance partner Faltec Co. Ltd. have launched construction on a joint venture facility near Bangkok, Thailand.

The plant, at Gateway City Industrial Estate 80 miles east of Bangkok, will open during the third quarter of 2013, the companies announced Sept. 25.

SRG Global of Warren, Mich., and Faltec, based in Kawasaki City, Japan, signed a global strategic alliance in 2011. The Thailand facility will mark their first all-new project together. It will have injection molding, chrome plating and painting for front grilles, side moldings, rear trim and roof rails.

“It is a significant initial step in what we hope will be many tangible steps that we envisioned at the outset of the alliance. Reaching this point in such a short timeframe will allow us to harness the best of both companies for the benefit of our customers,” said SRG President and CEO Kevin Baird, in a news release.

The plant will produce parts for Nissan, Ford, Honda, Isuzu and General Motors vehicles.
