PTi wins roll stand patent

Sheet extrusion machinery maker Processing Technologies International LLC of Aurora, Ill., has been awarded a U.S. patent for its ratchet-activated height adjustment device that raises and lowers the cooling and polishing rolls relative to the sheet die exit.

Built into the roll stand, the mechanism is simpler, less time-consuming and less expensive than competing manual and motorized methods, the company said.

The patent—No. 8,240,180 B2—is the third patent that PTi has received for its G series liner bearing-mounted roll stand.
