Published: September 26, 2012 6:00 am ET

Sabic Innovative Polymers has debuted a thermoformable polycarbonate sheet that meets the stringent standards for flame, smoke and toxicity in interior aircraft components.

Lexan XHR 5000 is designed for multi-layer window shade systems for which it boasts performance with a high quality appearance and enhanced room-darkening properties.

The sheet is supplied as a white-pigmented layer over a black base. The robust and lightweight sheet can be laminated with decorative films and then thermoformed.

Sabic is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and has offices around the world, including The Netherlands. It featured the new sheet at the Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas in Seattle, Wash., on Sept. 25.
