ATLANTA (Sept. 27, 11:05 a.m. ET) — Huntsman Polyurethanes’ Vitrox composite resin won this year’s innovation award of the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry, voted for by attendees at the CPI’s annual polyurethanes technical conference, held this year in Atlanta.

One potential outlet for the fast-reacting Vitrox polyurethane resins is cure-in-place pipe (CIPP) repair, where the material offers a longer handling window, faster curing, as well as superior resistance to high temperatures, compared to existing technologies.

Other nominees for the 2012 CPI Innovation Award were Boral Composites for a new exterior building material with a high recycled content, and Reverdia for its bio-succinic acid made by a yeast fermentation process.
