TAIPEI, TAIWAN (Oct. 2, 8 a.m. ET) — Chinese press maker Borch Machinery Co. Ltd. and Taiwanese hot runner maker Eden Mold Co. Ltd. have formed a marketing partnership to better expand their geographic markets, the companies said at the recent Taipei Plas show in Taiwan.

Borch, which is one of China’s largest press makers, was exhibiting for the first time at the Taipei show, held Sept. 21-25, to better introduce its brand to Taiwanese companies.

“Many Taiwanese companies are all over the world but the owners are located in Taiwan,” said David Meng, a supervisor in Borch’s overseas sales department. “It will be easier to push our brand to Taiwanese owners.”

Eden Mold, for its part, has not done much with sales in the mainland Chinese market because much of its equipment is targeted at molding with higher-end materials like liquid crystal polymers and polyetheretherketone resins.

But rising wages in mainland China will increase demand for higher-quality molding materials, said Liao Chien Lang, Eden Mold’s general manager.

“We did not enter China before because China is a low-cost labor country,” he said. “Now it is different. Our market will grow.”

The two companies were sharing a booth at Taipei Plas. Liao said the two firms started their marketing cooperation started last year. It did not involve any joint investment, he said.

Eden Mold has a 20,000 square meter factory in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and claims it is one of Taiwan’s largest hot-runner makers.
