MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (Oct. 4, 1:45 p.m. ET) — Plastics and specialty chemicals maker PMC Group has purchased a line of polymer stabilizers, catalysts and fine chemicals from Arkema SA for an undisclosed price.

The deal includes organometallic materials based on organotin and organophosphine.

Mount Laurel, N.J.-based PMC is purchasing a plant making these products in Carrollton, Ky., and part of a plant in Mobile, Ala.

Arkema, based in Colombes, France, will continue to toll-produce some of the products for PMC at a plant in Vlissingen, the Netherlands.

PMC also will buy a plant making those materials in Beijing from Arkema in the first half of 2013., officials said in an Oct. 3 news release.

Sales of the materials included in the deal totaled about $250 million in 2011.

The deal “is another exciting step in the growth story of PMC,” President Debtosh Chakrabarti said in the release. “We are very encouraged to have Arkema’s organometallics team join the PMC Group family.”

The transaction is the first plastics-related materials deal for PMC since 2006, when it bought a line of polystyrene compounds from Nova Chemicals Corp.
