SCHWERTBERG, AUSTRIA (Oct. 5, 10:10 a.m. ET) — Engel Austria GmbH’s new head of technology and production is a member of the Schwarz family, which owns the machinery maker — Stefan Engleder, the grandson of Georg and Irene Schwarz.

Engleder marks the fourth generation of the ownership family to hold a management position with Schwertberg-based Engel.

Georg Schwarz joined his father-in-law’s company, Ludwig Engel KG in 1951, when he married Ludwig’s daughter, Irene. The company came out with its first injection molding machine the following year.

Engleder has worked in the plastics and machine tool industry for the last 10 years, at companies in Germany and Canada. A mechanical engineer, he joined Engel in 2008, and was responsible for the development and market launch of the Viper linear robot line. He then became factory manager at Engel’s robot factory in Dietach, Austria.

After Engleder’s appointment as chief technology officer, there now are two family members on the management team. Engel CEO Peter Neumann is the son-in-law of Georg and Irene Schwarz.
