Aton dryer touted for energy savings

Published: October 10, 2012 6:00 am ET

Wittmann Battenfeld Inc. in Torrington, Conn., has introduced its Drymax Aton segmented wheel dryer, with EcoMode energy-saving features.

The EcoMode function automatically switches the dryer into an energy conservation mode, when the moisture removal needs are reduced. In wheel mode, the dryer operaters at full capacity.

EcoMode effectively switches the machine from a continuous to an indexing process, which sequences the wheel, requiring less energy.

One feature of the Aton dryers is the ambiLED status indicating light, so the operator can easily identify the mode in which the dryer is running. A blinking light signals an alarm condition.

The Aton dryer also uses the 3-Save process, which uses recovered heat from the wheel, maximizes air distribution over the heater, eliminating ‘hot spots,’ and counter airflow regeneration.
