Progress reported on twin-screw cast PET film

Published: October 10, 2012 6:00 am ET

Reifenhäuser GmbH & Co. KG has sold four cast lines producing three-layer, unstretched cast PET film — which the company introduced at the K 2010 show.

More lines are scheduled to be shipped shortly, according to the company.

The Reitruder twin-screw extruder is the key component that allows processing of PET without the need for pre-crystallization and pre-drying, similar to the production of sheet.

The technology comes from the Reifenhäuser Cast Sheet Coating business, in Troisdorf, Germany.

The company’s U.S. operation, Reifenhauser Inc. is in Danvers, Mass.
