Arkema shows new foam for PVDF

October 10, 2012

Arkema Inc. has increased design freedom of Kynar PVDF fluoropolymer resin with a new foam concentrate.

“Foaming PVDF wire and cable jacketing has been examined in the past with minimal success,” says Arkema business development engineer for fluoropolymers in the Americas, Sean Stabler. Arkema addresses the problem with a product suited to the wire and cable market as well as in other continuous extrusions such as pipe, tube, film, injection molding and sheet.

The concentrate gives a closed cell foam structure that maintains barrier, chemical and temperature resistance of Kynar, claims the King of Prussia, Pa., firm. The concentrate improves properties such as flexibility, strip-ability, ease of cutting and insulation.
