Eastman Chemical Co. has debuted a new polymer aimed at extrusion blow molding and packaging applications needing a resin identification system.

Aspira One is compatible in the PET recycling stream, claims the Kingsport, Tenn., firm. Its sustainability properties include better process efficiency, lower scrap rates and a clear and glossy glass alternative.

Eastman says Aspira One can provide an ingrated clear handle and is tough. The polymer is BPA-free and contains no antimony and halogens.

Compared with EPET, Aspira One exhibits no haze, is free of gels and does not degrade in processing, according to the company.
