AVON LAKE, OHIO (Oct. 16, 12:50 p.m. ET) — Custom injection molder Thogus Products Co. has launched Jalex Medical LLC, a separate company that will focus on biomedical engineering, product development and regulatory and quality assistance.

“Our clients demand flexibility, speed and quality as they compete in the tough, highly regulated medical-device market,” President and owner Matt Hlavin said in an Oct. 15 news release.

Jalex will share the same 76,000-square-foot location in Avon Lake that houses Thogus and its Rapid Protoptype and Manufacturing LLC sister firm.

Thogus will invest $1.6 million on equipment, jobs and facilities in the next year, Hlavin said. “The investment in equipment and personnel is our commitment to fulfilling our client obligation,” he added.

Thogus was founded in 1950 as a tool and die shop. The firm entered the rapid-prototyping market in 2009 when it purchased two machines for fused deposition modeling.
